The Visit from the F.B.I.By:
Theresa Martin For the short period of time I spent inside a jail cell recently I was able to walk away with an experience that has brought new light to my work and goals. It is because of this experience that I feel compelled to share because its meaning will have different effects.
I knew from the time I heard “Martin, visit from PD” [from one of the Jail guards] that something wasn’t fitting into the normal scope of things. I wasn’t expecting any visitors and certainly not a PD, which in jail terminology means Public Defender. I slowly walked through the steel doors and up the steps as directed. Looking to the left, then to the right and hearing the door shut behind me, I wasn’t sure what to expect. As I am only 5 feet 115 pounds, I can be easily intimidated. There standing to the left were 3 gentlemen. Nobody that I had ever seen before, yet one of them [asked for] “Theresa Martin?" I replied yes, and was asked to join them in this room because they would like to speak with me. Once inside I was shown badges from the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
I was intrigued as to why the F. B. I. would come and see me while I was sitting in jail and curious to know what they wanted. I agreed to speak with them, after all, I have nothing to neither hide nor be ashamed of.
They proceeded to lay down a photograph of "Mr. H." and asked if I knew this person. It was the only photograph they showed me. I identified him and confirmed I knew him well. I answered every question as honestly as I could and when asked what kind of car Mr. H. drove, I directed them to Google Maps where they would be able to see Mr. H’s car in my circle driveway. I confirmed Mr. H’s hostile aggressive behaviors and advised of the domestic violence record I have on file. When asked why I had not called the police previously, my reply was the Family Rights Movement needed him and I needed him to get justice from the State of Florida.
These F.B.I. agents wanted to know more about the Family Rights Movement, asking what it was all about, naming a few organizations, especially Fathers4Justice. I explained that I likened the Family Rights Movement to the Civil Rights Movement back in the 60’s led by Dr. Martin Luther King. If we have a few, what I call the Rosa Parks in the movement willing to sacrifice their civil liberties, then I am behind them 100%. You see, we are parents, grandparents and children. Good, fit and have not been proven abusive ever by a jury of our peers, yet the Government has come into our homes and destroyed our families. I am working hard to get every person who deals with hostile custody’s trained on a behavioral form of child abuse known as Parental Alienation.
Very intrigued they started with questions like "Are we planning on kidnapping a judge?", and "Are we planning on blowing up a building? Are we planning on taking over a government structure?" To which I replied "Your line of questioning is completely out of context. The Government has come into our homes, and we are mad as hell. We simply want the Government to get out of our homes and stop destroying our families." By the way Mr. F.B.I. agent – Where were you back in mid 2004, when my children were abducted, while I was at work and against court orders, they were taken across State lines by a convicted child molester, [who owed] the Florida Department of Revenue over $10,000 in back child support? These are Federal crimes and I called you!
YOU DID NOT HELP ME!
Of course, during the entire 20-30 minute conversation the F.B. I. agents took diligent notes in their stenographer notepads. Always saying to me "We will investigate, we will check it out." I also asked them if they were going to help me get out of jail for not paying the convicted child molester money to keep my children 1000 miles away. A Federal violation, correct? Good thing my expectations were low.
So since this entire experience to me was a pat on my back and a simple confirmation that I have drawn the attention of the F.B.I., I now know my name is in their database and they have finally found it necessary to come and speak with me.
FANTASTIC!
I walked away no longer feeling like a crumb on the bottom of their shoe and I pray they do check things out and investigate – for the sake of all the children involved in our Family Rights Movement.
